I worked fifteen years forts a Greek restaurant owner. he taught me to drink it on the rocks.
There's nothing like it. It tastes great, can be sipped while holding a conversation and is the world's greatest hangover
preventive.
I have had no bad imported Greek ouzo, from Metaxa or whoever. I order it when I can afford it at sunset, drinking it outdoors where there is a view; or just as the perfect ending to any meal.
Yasou!
eeewe no
Who like drinking rubbing alcohol!?? LOL!!
It's pretty disgusting. Besides ouzo in the United States isn't like what you buy in Greece. The Greek version is illegal here...so why bother?
Guess I'm in the minority, but I love it. My friend brought some back from Greece in this little cobalt blue bottle with a colorful label. Don't recall the name, but it was really smooth and the taste was to die for.
I love ouzo, I used to drink it all the time until I discovered Absinthe, now I reckon that's the best! Only to be drank very carefully though, and aways put the lid back on tight otherwise it evaporates! Happy Drinking!!
Yes, I do! And Ouzo tastes NOTHING like turpentine. It is an anise flavored liquor that actually tastes quite good. Although modern Greeks like to mix it with coke, I have always enjoyed it just the way I drank it in the 70s in Thessaloniki, with a little soda water and a couple of ice cubes.
The brand I remember from Greece and the one I most often bought when living in Vancouver was METAXA. (I now live in Mexico and haven't had ouzo for years, but after this Q I think I'm going to go down to the "Europea" specialty store tomorrow and get some........)
Hello from Greece. There is qood and bad quality for Ouzo. The best one is "Plomari".Ouzo never mix with coca cola, wants only a little ice.Greeks never drinks ouzo in bars or clubs, they drink it only in restorants esp. when eating fish.
