i think i get what you are saying (but the wording is throwing me off a bit) for teens it is mainly well, im buzzed, so why not go the whole nine yards and pick up a cigarette in the other hand. While the two usually are not related otherwise, unless of course you happen to like them both. Sometimes people also want to block things from their mind as well as "calm down" which is provided by drinking as well as smoking.
People smoke anyway so there is no reason needed.
Alcohol is a depressant and a cigarette is a stimulant. I guess people just want to balance themselves out, although it is not very healthy.
You life decreases 1 day for every cigarette you smoke. One glass of red wine a day is healthy for your heart.
