What's your favourite liquor/beer/alcohol?!
No wine please though, can't stand it hahah.
Answers: I'm 18 today (which is legal age in Australia, where I'm from) and I'm going to buy a bottle of something to celebrate (since I can legally now lol) but I've never drunk much before and I'd like some recommendations? :)

hm. alrighty youre gonna hear all kindsa different things from different people.
if your goal is just to get fucked up (drunk), stick with darker hard liquor. whiskey and tequila. youll have a good time until you get sick.
if youre just about trying things, hell. try a shot of whiskey (jim bean or jack daniels works), a shot of tequila (patron & jose cuervo are good), vodka (whatever works. stolichnaya is good.) and rum. (two kinds. dark and light; go dark. bacardi is the best) and... well. yeah. with 4 shots... you should be havin a good time for never having drank. and about gin... never had it, dont plan on it. sounds & smells nasty. so sry cant say there.
(cheap stuff works. just always remember there is better out there. liquor can get REALLY expensive.)
one thing you should definitely try is baileys. its good =D like a cream... liquor. i dont think i know more than a few people who dislike it.
with beers.. there are ALL kinds. when in doubt, look at what everyone else drinks. heineken is a great beer, a lot of people like corona (i just think its ok..), a lot of people like guiness (sadly one i havent had) and an insane amount of people like the cheap american beers. coors, miller, budweizer, etc.
so you know there are (as far as i know) three main types of beer. lager (all of the above except guiness are. just different flavors. its generally clearer and has a distinct flavor), hefeweizen (wheat beer. smoother if ya ask me. but not as common), and ...i forget what the last one is called. but dark beer. thats generally... heavier. youll understand as soon as you try it but.. they generally taste really woody. like tree bark (no joke). no clue what guiness is like, but its a dark one.
remember this about liquor:
--darker is gonna affect your body differently. theyre generally... heavier, and usually have higher alc. content. usually have sharper flavor too
--lighter = less alc. content GENERALLY
and as far as i know... best beers from germany (personal preference), and best wines/champagnes from france and italy. (remember ive never had guiness so... dunno what the crazy brits have done)
and always- have some fun. NEVER DRIVE. im ALLLLLL for partying, trust me, but people get killed with driving and alcohol. its just bad news.

oh and with coctails.. you want to barely or not at all be able to taste to booze. thats why youre mixing it. baileys is straight. tequila... straight (screw margaritas!). rum & coke, vodka & juice (pretty much any kind but berries are especially good)
remember. for every drink it takes about... an hr to get the booze from your system. dont drink 18 shots because its your 18th. you can get some lovely alcohol poisoning and die. if youre ever going to do shots, make sure the number of shots stays in the single digits. 10+ is too much to deal with, especially if youve never drank. (stay low numbers then)
Michelob Ultra or Budweiser Select- Both are pretty smooth with no after taste.

I like a good microbrew beer with a steak.
Foster's ESB is about my favorite.
Gin & Tonic (Tanqueray w' a double twist) for a mixed
drink. Or maybe a Captain Morgan & Coke.

As far as mixed drinks go, I love an apple martini or a whiskey sour. As far as shots go, a Washington apple is good or a lemon drop or just a shot of tequila with lime and salt
