When you get drunk?!

Question:

When you get drunk?

how can you sober up so quickly when something terrible happens .

Answers:
I know it is not nice is it. I remember hearing very bad news when very drunk and it was like that second I was fine. It is simply shock and your body coping with it. Imagine you were in danger, that is why it does that so we can survive. I would say it goes back to times when we lived as wild people not like we are now days.

Natural instinct......Works for me anyway....

i think Its to do with adrenalin

I think it depends how drunk you are, but I'm guessing that adreneline over rides intoxication. Be interesting to see if anyone posts a scientific response to this question!

if something terrible happens it should hit u right away

thats because your heartbeat/rate increases, which inturn increases your metabolism for as long as your rate is elevated. higher metabolism/higher rate of alcohol filtration.

its your body's natural reaction, the release of adrenylin usually brings you round a bit.

otherwise their is little you can, try taking a shower and drinking coffee will make you a little bit more alert.

With the standard of brewing in this country,,UK,, it wouldn't take you that long to just let your natural process to do it.

weird isn't it. I think it is to do with adrenalin.

The same also happened with me once on LSD, the police turned up and the whole 'oh my god my mind is melting with uncontrollable weirdness' just vanished in an instant.

Your adrenoline takes over so that you can cope, but being drunk can often make things seem worse than they really are.

when u are drunk you are drunk maybe you can pierce yourself with something sharp so the pain will wake u

i do not need anything but a strong coffee and some bread to soak it up should work

you dont sober up, you just think you do
i takes your body an hour to process 1 unit of alcohol - nothing can speed this up. coffee can worsen the effect because it contains caffeine, which speeds up the body so that more alcohol is carried to the brain.
the only thing that can sober you up is time

OK, what did you do? Sticky sheets and ugly munter in the morning was it?

Adrenalin "rush" to the inebriated box.

There is no quick way to sober up. However in the event of something major happening (Car crash, tidal wave etc) the body releases a shot of adrenalin that causes the feeling that you are no longer as drunk.

Hi Deborah, It is a myth that you can sober up quickly in a crisis. A drunk person may appear to be in control of the situation, but their judgement will still be vastly impaired. They are still prone to make mistakes.
The liver can metabolize up to 0.5 ounces of alcohol per hour. That's only about half the amount of alcohol in a standard drink. Once the alcohol is in your bloodstream, nothing can speed the rate of metabolism. Not sleep. Not caffeine. Not food. Not water. So all you can really do is wait.

drink lots of water, take a cold shower, drink coffee, eat something solid like a meat sandwich.

ooooohhhh, hope we are helping here and that something terrible isn't happening to you. :)

When I get pulled over I sober up real quick from fear, Because I'm well aware of the end result.

Crying always sobers me up.

it is mental and then there is some who cant but your mind is telling u that u have to forget that buzz this just happend and then your mind is on this specific thing
