I myself am 16 and i drink alot... the more you drink i feel the more responsible you are, you have more controll over yourself and you can limit yourself better than a say "first timer" aka "nub"
this is what i remember from health class and physiological psychology class:
1. physical damage done to the brain especially the frontalis, or the frontal part of your brain. decrease higher mental abilities, higher mental abilities are able to reason, organize, and any thought process that needs some time to think about. if alcohol is used heavily before one reaches say 21, then the frontalis will not grow or will be very small making it difficult for one to use the brain for certain situations listed above.
2. one becomes an alcoholic - at an early age one will feel depressed alot, may never finish tasks, may use alcohol as the only means to resolve situations or problems in one's life.
3. for someone who is too young to drink - they may never grow up, as in never take on responsibilities, the alcoholic will give up sooner then expected
4. financially, a young person using alcohol will be limited, so they will use other means to get money so that they can get alcohol.
5. when one is addicted to alcohol, it will take more and more alcohol for that person to feel that high or feel the down effect from the alcohol. alcohol works like any drug.
6. it's also suggested that people with alcohol problems have a shorter life span then people not using alcohol.
7. for most people who are responsible or are at the legal drinking age, they first start out as a social drinker and move up to being dependant on alcohol, because they increase their usage.
8. people who are over 21, who are dependent on alcohol, can freeze up the brain when using alot of alcohol, because of the numbing of the brain they become irresponsible. ( it's listed above but this is after your 21, the numbing of the brain is common for all alcoholics - they want this feeling of numbing of the brain, thats why most alcoholics love to turn to the bottle to solve their problems)
9. socially - as someone who is not legal to drink, they use alcohol as a mean of escape, or acceptance by their peers. this becomes a habit, the drinking that is, and they drink more and more alcohol to be accepted throughout their adult life.
10. the day after - you will get moody and become a difficult person to talk to because of the alcohol. your senses becomes acute, and you may develop into a serious medical problem - something like psychosis. A long time use can lead you into the direction of schizophrenia.
i'm not a medical doctor, but you can google them and find some interesting views on alcohol.
good luck.
no the risks are deffinetly not exxagerated at all!
