What cheeses go best with a pinot grigio that i can buy at my local supermarket?!

Question: Help please?

Answers: Help please?

I am a former chef and did alot of catering over my 20+ yrs in the trade, I would recommend like the first respondant a variety of cheeses, but lighter soft types, and if you do have hard types, parmesan or asiago.

Camembert, Brie, Havarti, Goudas, some light blue veined, English ones like cheshire and Wensleydale. White cheddars and even swiss types like emmenthal and raclette.

As Grigio is lighter fruity wine and like a german reisling or in french Pinot Gris, they are very pleasant drink wines so strong or overpowering cheese are not recommended.

Try more than one if it's a get together, people like a variety and I would use a good aged cheddar and then add something more exotic. Allow it to be room temp. for the best flavor. Just make the presentation nice and it won't really matter, have a variety of crackers and fruit, grapes etc. for garnish or additional nibbling. Good luck.
