Does anybody a recipe for homemade wine...?
My uncle said he used to make his own wine. does it involve any special equipment?
Answers:
Visit http://www.maltose.com and look at their winemaking kit. It cost about $95 and has all the equipment you need to get started. From there, you can buy a juice kit that makes 6 gallons of wine for another $90.
There are less expensive juice kits, but you will get what you pay for.
Use your search engine and look up home wine making. I'm sure all the information you need is there.
I've been making wine at home for years and it is terrific! Pick up a copy of "The Joy of Home Winemaking" by Terry Garey. It has the complete how-tos from basic to advanced and recipes for just about anything you'd want to make wine out of. Peaches, blackberries and cherries are my favorites.
You can get wine making supplies online or at your local homebrew store - just look up wine and beermaking supplies in your yellow pages (online or the one you're using as a doorstop). You'll mostly need a large plastic bucket and a glass carboy, as well as a few ingredients for the brewing process (such as yeast)
But get the book first, and it will tell you exactly what you need.
Yes it does require special equipment. Depending on the type of wine you desire to make, and the quanity depends on the cost of your ingredants. I have made excellent wines anywhere from $1 USD per gallon to $30 per gallon. A great online resource to help you learn more about the hobby is http://winemaking.jackkeller.net...
If you want to make your classic wines like Merlot, the best pricing I have found juice extracts is http://secureic.getontech.com/cgi-bin/sm...
The shipping cost a lot, buy if you are buying multiple kits it makes it an excellent place to shop!
Happy wine making!
