Answers: The technical color specification is "dark ruby" That's off their website.

Guinness is a dark color stout and due to the roasting of the barley the beer becomes dark in color. as it pours due to the nitrogen the it pours foamy with is a tannish color but settles to become the final product of the dark black color of the scrumptious stout.

It's black.

it looks black but if held up to a light ts dark red

Guinness actually looks black but if you hold it up to the light and look at the bottom of the glass it is actually dark red. They have just brought out another drink and it is called Guinness Red and as you can guess it is red.

It is really a dark dark dark brown but most would refer to it as being black.
