How much water should you drink a day , and why ?!

Question: A good estimate is to take your body weight in pounds and divide that number in half. That gives you the number of ounces of water per day that you need to drink. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should drink at least 80 ounces of water per day. If you exercise you should drink another eight ounce glass of water for every 20 minutes you are active. If you drink alcohol, you should drink at least an equal amount of water. When you are traveling on an airplane, it is good to drink eight ounces of water for every hour you are on board the plane. If you live in an arid climate, you should add another two servings per day....

You should drink 4- 8 ounce glasses to keep you hydrated and to flush you system.

Keep drinking until your pee comes out almost clear and you can hardly tell if you have whizzed or not by looking at the water in the toilet bowl.

I was told that we should drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day. That way you can flush out all the bad toxins from your body. Also, if you don't drink enough, your body "remembers" and stores all the water you drink, and that's what makes someone bloated.

8 8 oz glasses a day. It flushes out toxins as well as lubricates your working parts. I always feel much better when I am properly hydrated.

For adult males, the recommended amount is about 3 quarts per day. For adult females, about 2 quarts per day. In terms of 8 oz. cups, that's about 12 cups per day for males and 8 cups per day for females. (I've also seen 13 cups (m), 9 cups (f) recommended. But 3 quarts / 2 quarts is close enough.)

The main issue for most people is how to get into the habit of consuming the optimal amount, and how to remember to drink all those cups of water. Here's a suggestion. Forget about counting 8 or 12 cups of water per day. It's hopeless. Find yourself a 32 oz. (1 quart) container to drink from during the day. Anything from a large "sports" cup with lid to a 32 oz mason jar will work. Then all you need to do is remember to drink 2 per day if you're female or 3 per day if you're male. The impossible task of remembering all those glasses of water now becomes trivial.

Why all that water? Because it flushes out the bad stuff and keeps your body working optimally.

I drink 24, 12 ounce cans of water, But my water contains Barley and Hops....

About 1 litre, the 3 litre thing has been overlooked as exsessive :P

As much as possible. I probably drink a good 100 oz or better everyday. This is because I drink lots of bourbon and scotch at night.
