Answers: im looking for a good quality red wine, but nothing really expensive, please help,

pino noir

pino noir..i agree its VERY good and not very expensive!

Merlot...take care...

I think chiantis are quite good for the price, also check out wines from the Rhone valley in France. I recommend Gabbiano and La Ferme de Gicon.

I like Black Swan (Australian) Cabernet or a Cabernet Merlot mix. Its under $10 a bottle and it tastes good.

Opus One (Napa valley $80), if that is too expensive for you, try Sterling vineyards (Napa $15), and if you want cheap try Yellow Tail (Australia $8) You will not go wrong with these choices enjoy.

Yarden, Mount Hermon Red
the best you can get and not too expensive.

You have to define what you call expensive. And there are so many different kinds of red wine.

I like Chianti and Merlot. Brands I like are Alice White, Red Bicyclette, and Rex Goliath. All three are about $8 a bottle.

its your own test, check out some websites that consider whine tasters, just google "wine tasting" that will give you all kinds of info,.

a real nice bottle of wine (around $25) is "sterling" cabernet.

Try Ernest and Julio Gallo Zinfandel or Cabernet Sauvignon. People who don't know about wines always condemn them because they used to make bulk wines, but they actually make excellent wines. Their former Chief Winemaker, Dr. George Thoukis is a very good friend of mine, and I have toured their winery before and tasted their whole range. Enjoy! {:-)

The king of the red wines is Cabernet Sauvignon. It is full bodied, as is Merlot. If you prefer a light red, Pinot Noir or Gamay Noir (Beaujolais). Where the wine originates affects the price as well. Other countries are producing wonderful wines at great prices, for example: Italy, France, South Africa, Australia.

Druid's Fluid is amazing! A smooth red blend that's not too dry and only $18.

Go to Trader Joe's if available in your area. 2 buck Chuck, French Market , they have all kinds of other good cheap red wine. At the liquor store Ecco Domani has a good Chianti for around $10 bucks, Rosemont or mount Estates has a good selection of reds the Shiraz- Cabernet is a good one. Good Luck!!

Bouchron Red, about $4.99 a bottle....

silver oak cabernet sauvignion 2003 costs 58.00 at the liquor store, and up to 160.00 at a restaurant. other great cabernets are jordan, groth, far niente, chateau montelena. kendall jackson vintner's reserve cabernet, blackstone merlot, beringer napa merlot, marques de carceras riserva , la crema pinot noir, are all 20.00 or less.

Most nappa vally American red wines are very good for the price about £10 or $20 Merlot, Shiraze even their whites are quite good and the same price. Do not buy a French they do not make good cheep wines.

Avoid anything American or French - they only get good at the top end of price. Don't drink Zinfandel or Shiraz at any price - Cabby Sauvs are better value (as they are less fashionable).

In my opinion of the value wines at the moment are Argentinian Malbecs - nice full peppery flavours suited to red meats and (strangely) red fruits. Great to drink on it's own as well, and will make you appear more interesting than anyone who serves up something with "bay" "creek" or "valley" on the label! Top end malbecs are still only around £12, and a very good one can be picked up for £6.
