Is anyone here just sick and tired of other people trying to tell them what to do?!

Question: To be more specific, my so-called friends and family are constantly ragging me about drinking. Yes I love to drink. I consume more now than I did a couple of months ago. There are reasons for this but that is another story. This is one of the reasons that I moved to a different state away from family and so-called friends. I drink bourbon or scotch on a daily basis. Some days, my boss and I have liquid lunches. When I go home at night, I lift the barbells first and then the glass. I think the people that are nagging me about it are only doing so because they can't handle it. I never get sick and never miss work. What is the BIG problem with this???

I used to have the same problem, Until I finally told them to get away from me, I'm my own boss, I also make more money then any of my friends, And they all know I start to drink as soon as I wake up, I wish I could buy you a drink my friend, Stick to your guns, CHEERS....

so if you moved away from these family and so called friends then how do they know what you are doing unless you are telling them.. maybe a part of you tells them because you don't want to slip to far into the drinking with out people knowing. you just said you drink more now than you did before right? If you don't think you have a problem then how do other people know?

hey as long as you are making big bucks and go to work..i see nothing wrong...just dont screw it up!

You should read Augusten Borroughs' "Dry" -it's a memoir about his life and drinking. He too, was making big bucks - but ruining his life at the same. You might think you have your drinking in check, but in reality you might not. I am definitely not a prude, nor am I against drinking, as I have been a bartender for 5 years. There was a time when everyone would have a manhattan after work, but now that has changed. If your family and friends are concerned your drinking daily might be out of hand. Drinking scotch on a daily basis, depending on the amount consumed could be very damaging to your body. I assume you are a young adult and if I am correct, think about how your body will look in 15 years. If you are drinking too much, it will definitely NOT look good. Not even if you are hitting the "barbells first".

If your "so-called" friends (i use quotations for a reason) and family sees a problem, it could possibly be a problem. "To move away a state away because they nag me to death" is an abrasive and hasteful type action. Then again, I only know what you tell me.

But I'd say its either...
- you don't trust the perspective and opinions of your "friends" and family
- you are too stubborn in your ways and refuse to change your lifestyle or hear about a change
- you're easily annoyed
- you really do have a problem because your moved away from them to avoid hearing about it

May be none of those, but an outsider's outlook is usually better than a insider's outlook, then again, the outsider must be unbias or unbias as possible.

But hey, I can't hate on a nice glass of whiskey, I'm just being unbias and impartial.

Some people can handle alcohol! They can drink all day and not appear drunk. As long as you're in good shape and never miss work or get arrested for intoxication, you're doing fine, and you can tell everybody so. But this condition won't last forever. After twenty years of drinking all the liquor you want, your body will change. The "big" problem your friends and family have is that they don't want you to die young.
