What is the license called to sell alcohol and how do I get one?
I am looking for work at the moment and I was thinking about applying for a local drive thru convenience store, but I'm thinking that I'll need the license thing to sell alcohol. But obviously, I don't know what it's called or how to even get one! Can someone help me please? And if I can get it online that's even better! Thanks.

If your state requires employees to get a permit for selling alcohol then they have to go to the police station or to City Hall first. Try calling cityhall and asking them. I worked for a convience store and wasn't required to get a permit, as long as you are old enough to legally purchase it, you are old enough to sell it. It is the stores, generally, that are required to get permits and such...not the employees. some places though require a background/criminal records check first......Not sure where you live.
Where I live you don't need a license to sell alcohol, you just have to be over 21 years old.
Its callled a liquor license. Just get a hold of the Liquor Commission in ur area. They will help you.
most cities call it a liquor license.
It's a function of your local city government - Alcohol Control Board.
The liquor license is what the people who own the place have to have in order to sell alcohol. You would just need to be trained by the store on alcohol selling procedures.
Here in California it is called a "Liquor License". There are different types that will allow you to sell only wine coolers and beer and wine. Others allow you to sell spirits. There is a different one that allows you to sell for consumption on the premises, you know for restaurants and bars.
Get a hold of your local ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control), they will let you know how many licenses are allowed for your neighborhood and county. They are quite pricey and you sometimes have to wait a considerable amount of time to actually get one.....depending on where you live.
Best of Luck!! Great business idea!! When I was a kid, they used to have them here.....it would be really nice to use when the little ones are sleeping in the car.
For a business they need a liquor license to sell.
For an individual that works at that business, they just need to be a certain age. It is either 18 or 21, depending upon where you live.
You will need a liquor license (to sell alcohol)which includes an operator's license (to serve alcohol). There may be a class involved like a bartenders class. You will need to go to your city hall office and inquire if there are any licenses available and how much it costs. Then you need to know what kind of alcohol you want to sell. Just wine alone has a separate license that is usually cheaper than selling hard alcohol. Depending upon your state. Research your state and city.
