How does a whiskey still operate/work.?!

Question:

How does a whiskey still operate/work.?

Answers:
Mash (fermented barley, corn, or rye) is put into the pot, then heated. This causes the alcohol to evaporate and travel up the column. Higher in the column, the alcoholic vapor is cooled and condenses on the side of the column. This process is called distillation. The liquid alcohol is then siphoned off and usually stored in oak barrels for a time before dilution to a strength that's actually drinkable and bottling.
