I have some home made wine i have just found in a winemaid, like a wine box its over a year old.?!

Question: And i wondered if it will be ok to drink, i had a sip and it seems ok, its a rose wine made from a can it made 5 gallon originally and i have just found 2 boxes of it that i had forgot about. cant remember exactly how old it is but it is at least a year maybe 18 months old, it was sealed but i dont think winemaids keep wine for too long, as i said its tastes ok but i dont want to get ill by drinking it ?

Rose, and white wines will last less time in general than red wines, because red wines have more tannin. Tannin is a compound in the skin of the grape that will act as a natural perservative. Since Rose and White wines have only limited, or no skin contact, they do not age as well as reds. In general, home made wine will be at it's peak within two years. However, unless the wine is vinegar, it isn't bad. It won't hurt you drinking wine that is past it's prime, it will have just lost some of it's flavour and colour.

I was wondering the same about a demi john of elderberry wine I made about 20 years ago. .. Looks and smells OK but have not tasted it...

Aren't some of the best wines very old?
If air gets to it doesn't it turn to vinegar?
Slurp that stuff down, man. The worst it can do is give you the farts. ha

Have recently finished a demi-john of 1976 pear wine, very tasty and highly effective... It was brewed by my parents back in that hot autumn, rediscovered when they were clearing the garage. Gave me a slight headache, but more likely due to the quantity, rather than the quality, imbibed.

I drink anything alcoholic, no matter how old. I'm about to make wine from concentrate that's two years past its "best by" date. If you are at all aprehensive about the wine, drink a small amount the first time, then more.
