i used to drink some when i was a teenager, probably more than i should. then when i was actually old enough to buy my own, i wasn't very interested in it any more. i'm 28 now and i have drank once in the last 2 and a half years. i don't have any desire to drink, i'm happy without it. plus i have seen what it has done to others, those around me that have let it consume them.
I don't drink. I have done a very minimal amount of drinking but never liked it so now I just don't. One of my grandparents was an alcoholic, so I made an early decision not to go down that path. And my life has been just fine without it.
I drink, I started when I was 15 and I like it. I only do it for fun though, not if i'm depressed or something like that. I don't really do it much anymore though. I sorta just got bored with it.
I enjoy a few beers, but never rarely get drunk. I an happy with the few beers, but no when I do go overboard I am not happy with myself! Plus being hungover sucks!!
I do drink alcohol, occassionally, with friends (only). I do not hang out with my friends often, so I actually drink very rarely.
I began to drink alcohol exactly on my 21st birthday. Two of my friends at college took my to a bar, and we had a good time. I vowed not to drink alcohol prior to my 21st birthday, because I think that it is irresponsible and can lead to poor decision-making in one's youth (although poor decision-making can also happen in adulthood, if one is not careful about their alcohol consumption).
I have never been drunk or out of control when I have drunk alcohol. It has not negatively affected my life, whatsoever. I think that I am responsible when I do drink: only with trusted friends, never drink and drive, and watch consumption.
I am 28 years old.
I drink everyday, I Really enjoy a good buzz, I started drinking a 12 pack of beer a day by the time I was nineteen, Now at 42 I'm up to a case a day, It helped me get rid of my ex-wife which was a great benefit....
I drink, occasionally. It never destroyed my life... everything in moderation. Used to drink more when I was younger, grades 10+.
I am 20 years old. (Drinking age in Canada is 19)
To the people who said (or will say) that they don't drink at all, let me ask you this:
Why are you even in the beer, wine and spirits section of YA then? Just to preach to everyone how wrong drinking is?
(and please don't use the religious cop-out, because Jesus drank wine and you are not more pure in spirit than him. The Trappist monks brew and enjoy beer daily and you are not more devout than them, so the religious arguement is pure BS)
yeah i drink alcohol...i started when i was 12, and im 16 nw!!!!!! but unlike most teenagers, i know when to stop and it hasnt destroyed my life
Yes, I drink. I love red wine, so I tend to a have a glass or two in the evenings - not every evening, but probably a few times a week. I also love dark beers, like porters and such. As far as when I started? Around 18 or so. I would never say that it destroyed my life, but I have done some pretty stupid and crazy things while drunk - some that I wish I could take back. But in all, I can honestly say that I enjoy it - I love the taste of a good beer or wine, and do enjoy the social aspects that will sometimes come along with it. I quit drinking for almost 2 years when I was 20 or so, and It was amazing how hard of time my friends gave me about it. (I just decided I didn't want to, at the time). I seriously had to go to the bars and order tonic water with a lime and a cocktail straw, so it LOOKED like a drink, so my friends would THINK I was drinking and leave me alone. Nice friends, huh?...needless to say, I don't hang around that crowd anymore, even though I now drink again.
Yes I drink occasionally, about once every week or two. Usually with my boyfriend. My first drink was when I was 19, the drinking age was 19 then. It has not destroyed my life because I do not drink that much. It averages out to about 6-8 drinks a month.
Rarely ever... I may have one beer every few months or one mixed drink... I have no attraction to alcohol thank God.
I've only been drinking about a year, late bloomer I guess.
If I didn't like it, why would I drink it?
It hasn't come remotely close to destroying my life, moderation is the key.
i used to drink a lot, just filled a void. started when i was 20, shy, and lonely. got a DUI that almost ruined my life. i am a fighter and refused to stop drinking. still had control of my life, luckily. im enaged now, and drink a lot lot lot less. still enjoy a good round of drinks at home ocasionally!
Seeing as no one has said this, I guess I'll be the first.
First the history. My mothers side of the family is Scottish, came over around the late 1700s. Close knit group of people, family means a lot to them. My dads side of the family is German. Thats all I know. My dad doesn't talk about his family much. From what I know, my grandma work in a bar, where my dad went after school. He said he started drinking when he was about 9 or 10, and stopped when he was about 20. (this was back in 1960, I have no idea what the drinking age was, but I'm sure it was older then 10...) My fathers side is full of drunks and alcoholics. My dad gets VERY depressed around christmas, and they were bleak times for him. (He said all the money went to booze, so no tree or presents.)
I started drinking when I was 23, nearly 5 years ago. (Having the German and Scottish heritage, I figured I might as well...) I am a college graduate, holding a BS in business. (I have options in accounting and MIS.) I am married, and have two kids. I have a job, life for me is alright.
Like I said, I do drink. I am mindful of what my father has told me about his family. If alcoholism is a disease, and if it is passed down, then I'm sure I've got it. At this point in my life, I do feel that I have control over my drinking. I drink only on my weekends, usually only on Friday night. (sometimes Saturday night to.) There isn't anything wrong with alcohol. As long as you stay in control of your drinking, and it doesn't have control over you, then you are fine. I have the family history, so I watch myself. but at the moment I feel good about my drinking.
