What is the different between alcohol & wine?!

Question:

What is the different between alcohol & wine?

Answers:
who cares just drink them .... they will do the job.

You are stupid.

Wine is wine, based on grapes and is fermented.

Alcohol is the substance that produces intoxication and it is in all alcoholic beverages.

They are not mutually exclusive to one another. Alcohol is IN wine.

Alcohol is a chemical compound containing an alkyl group and a hydroxyl group. Wine is a beverage, containing about 12% of alcohol (rest is just plain water)

Wine contains alcohol

Wine is pleasant to drink. Pure alcohol is a poison.

No difference. Some alchohol is a lot stronger than normal wine but they both make you drunk in the end.

Wine is an alcoholic beverage witch contains about about a 10-15% alcohol content.

wine is grapes ......

Alcohol itself is the active ingredient, ethanol, which causes one to be intoxicated. Wine is fermented grapes, usually aged in a wooden barrel, which contains 10% or so alcohol.

Wine is the juice of grapes that has been fermented.

Alcohol is the product of yeast (which is either naturally in the grapes or added in) reacting with sugar to create chemicals which make you drunk.

Alcohol is also found in many other beverages like beer and spirits.

Alcohol is what is inside the wine that makes you drunk.

wine is an alcoholic beverage, meaning it has alcohol in it, but a bunch of other stuff too, mostly water.
Pure alcohol is just that, pure alcohol. Meaning it has a chemical formula with an -OH group, or several, on it somewhere. The effects of drinking pure alcohol are blindness and death. In its pure form it is a strong poison. In diluted form like wine, beer, or spirits, it is a party (up to a certain point of course).
Hope that helps.

alcohol has an intoxicating liquor added to it, while wine is very mild, it does not intoxicate with you drink it

Sigh! India! Again!

India has all the wrong words to describe the tipple.
If you look at the "Wine Shops' they don't sell wine, but 'Indian made foreign liquor' IMFL which is nothing more than some alcoholic formulae, laced with artificial flavouring. You'll find that 'Beer' is also considered 'Wine' in the alcohol shops of India.

Due to liberalisation in recent years, we now have the good brands and have access to REAL brandy, scotch, wine and so on, but most indians can't tell a single malt from a concoction that is 90 parts indian hooch mixed with ten parts scotch.

Indian beer is pretty good, especually those made in Sikkim. It's Rum is passable. Brandy made from Hyderabad Grapes is fine. please note that none of the above is classified as 'wine' other than in India.

The average Indian thinks that Wine is 'foreign hooch'. therefore, please be forgiving when you reply to this question.
The asker probably hasn't even tasted wine, because respectable middle-class families won't have the vile evil-smelling thing anywhere near teh house. that, of course is why the men populate the bars...

Wine = fermented grapes.... but distilled grapes = brandy (short for brandywine). Remember that for a brandy to be called Cognac it must be produced in the region called Cognac (darn French have given another name to brandy!)

Wine can be up to 18 proof (red Sicilian wines or some of the sweeter whites) while "booze" 80 to 90 (over-proof).

If you are refering to the harder spirits like vodka, rum,ect...
The difference is alchol content. Wine has about 12% and the other spirits have 40% and over. Also wine is made from grapes and most other spirits are made from grains.

wine is alcohol too.not as strong as vodka etc but an alcoholic bevrage none the less

Dear Potashi, Good question!!!
Americans tend to say Alcohol' when they mean alcoholic beverages.
As a part of wine,- alcohol is - a naturally produced preservative of the fruit / grape juice and is of at least 8% of alcohol by volume, which lawfully- will have the percentage alcohol displayed on the wine bottle label. Take a look!!!
Depending on the style - white wines may contain 8 to 12% by volume - red wines generally more so , where as 'fortifieds' (Port or Sherry), have strong alcohol spirits or Brandy to keep the sweeter wines from spoilling, & will be in the order of 20% /vol.
(Also many cocktails or fruity or flavoured alcoholic mix drinks)
Hard liquor 'Alcohol' - such as Bourbon Whiskey Vodka Rum or " Spirits" are so called because their alcoholic "strength" exceeds
35% often as much as 40% by volume -note the label again!
Beers lager and guinness is made from grain and is lower in alcohol than wine at around 4%. Several beers are needed
to achieve the same level of alcohol intake or effects of say a wine, cocktail or rum & cola drink.
So - be wise - know what you are drinking and why!
The higher the price of the 'drink' is generally the higher the level of ALCOHOL contained in it.!!!
The price of WINE is based on the skill of the winemaking and/or the region or variety of grape,etc- among other things.
Drink wisely OK
cheers from
