Elderberry Wine?!
Elderberry Wine?
Anybody have a simple elderberry wine recipie? I have looked them up on the web and they go from pretty basic to pretty complicated. I was just wondering if anybody acutually has made it with any real success.

Hi, Smecky! Yeah, I made elderberry wine several years ago from one of those kits you send away for. In fact, I made two batches. I got the bottles and the labels and the corking machine and everything. It cost a ton of money, but I was into an experimenting phase and it was fun. The two batches of elderberry wine I made came out quite differently. I was living in Virginia at the time, and I finished making the wine and bottled it into two separate cases, one batch in each case. Then I moved to California before I could try it. Months had passed before I discovered those cases of wine, and I opened the first case and it was delicious! My friends and I drank it and everyone liked it. Then it ran out. I wasn't worried though, because I had another case. So I threw this big dinner party and opened the second case of elderberry wine, all of the guests anticipating something delicious and different that I had been bragging about. And you know what? That case had turned to vinegar! The whole case! I never did figure out why one batch was so good and one spoiled, but everytime I hear about elderberry wine I think about that and smile. How is that for an elderberry wine story? Pay very close attention to whatever instructions you go with. The payoff is great. Elderberry wine is sooooo good!!! Good luck with it!
