In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lime slice and the remaining mint, and serve.

Good Summery Drink!

Mojito (pronounced IPA: [m??hi?.to?] (English) [mo'xi.to] (Spanish)) is a traditional Cuban cocktail which became popular in the United States during the late 1980s, and has recently seen a resurgence in popularity.

A mojito is traditionally made of five ingredients: spearmint, rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime, and carbonated water. Its combination of sweetness and refreshing citrus and spearmint flavors are intended to mask the potent kick of the rum, and have made this clear cocktail a popular summer drink.

It's a cuban mint julep;-)

It's fresh mint, cane sugar and fresh lime muddled (basically just mushed up) in the bottom of a glass. Then you add ice, a shot of white rum and top it off with soda water. Yes, they are great and refreshing.

INGREDIENTS

* 2 leaves fresh mint
* 1 tablespoon simple syrup
* 2 cubes ice
* 1 1/4 fluid ounces rum
* 1 fluid ounce carbonated water
* 1 sprig fresh mint

DIRECTIONS

1. In a cocktail glass, muddle (crush) mint leaves with simple syrup. Add ice and rum. Top with carbonated water. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

Simple syrup is equal parts sugar and water. Just melt the sugar in hot water. Then cool before using. Makes it easy to sweeten cold drinks.

I order Mojitos sometimes when I go out and they are very refreshing! Great for summertime!
