Two things I don't do, waste money or ruin a good cigar. That is exactly what you would do it you lit a premium cigar with a nasty smelling piece of currency.
It does not take much to ruin a great cigar since what you light your stogie with filters into the cigar. I don't use paper matches or cheap fluid in my lighters and $100 bill can buy me 3-5 really good non-Cubans or 2-3 Cubans
As far as money burning long enough to light a cigar; money is made cotton, go outside, take off your shirt, and set it on fire and see how fast it burns to nothing!

For starters... people do that as a show of wealth... "I'm so rich, I light my cigars with $100 bills..." If you rolled up the bill, it would burn long enough to get it done... But if you're going to throw away a hundred bucks... You can give it to me. :))
Basically this is where the turn "Money to burn" originated from. These rich bastards have so much money they can burn it and it wouldn't affect there heavy wallets. Usually the oils in the bill from massive circulation is what keeps the bill lit so long.
Only rich people and others that handles lots of money can do this. I am sure that bill will stay lit long enough to light the fire or several bills may be needed. It would be nice if they could give us some of those $100 dollar bill -------wow, what a rejoicing day it would be.

I worked in a wine/cigar bar for a couple of years and never once saw anybody do that.
I saw them do some crazy things like order $180 shots of cognac but never light a cigar with anything other than a match or lighter.
Isn't it illegal to burn money, anyway?
... I suppose if they're rich enough to do that, they'd be rich enough to get away with it. Eh, ether way, donate it to me instead.
