What's a good drink that doesn't taste like alcohol?!

Question:

What's a good drink that doesn't taste like alcohol?

My wife and I previously abstained from alcohol but have decided to give it a try. We sampled wine and strawberry daquiris, but in both cases, she hated the alcohol taste that lingered in the back of her throat.

Are there any drinks that you can recommend that don't have that linkering alcohol taste? Also, please provide a recipe for your suggestions. Thanks!

Blue Hawaiian
1 oz. lite rum; 1/2 oz. Malibu; 1/2 oz. Blue Curacao; fill with pineapple juice; in a high-ball glass, filled with ice; garnish with cherry
-------------------
Pina Colada
1 1/4 oz. Rum
5 oz. Pina Colada Mix
1 Scoop Crushed Ice
Combine in blender, blend until smooth. Pineapple Wedge & Cherry garnish.
-------------------
Fuzzy Navel
1 shot peach schnapps
Fill the rest with Orange juice.
-------------------
Mud Slide
1/2 shot vodka
1/2 shot Kahlua
1/2 shot Bailey's
Can serve blended, or on the rocks. (some like to blend in a scoop of vanilla ice cream)
-------------------
Hurricane
1 1/4 oz Myers Dark Rum
2 oz Pineapple Juice
2 oz Orange Juice
shot of Grenadine
Float Bacardi 151 on top
-------------------
Sex on the Beach
1 shot Vodka
1 shot peach schnapps
Orange Juice juice, and a splash of cranberry on top.
-------------------

All of the above are very tasty and are difficult to taste the alcohol in. Specifically the Mud Slide. Any bar in the states should know what each of them are.

Kahlua and cream. If she doesn't like it, she probably won't like anything.

try a pina colada or something like malibu rum with punch or coke

smirnoff ice is pretty good. try the green apple kind.

Fuzzy Navel. It is orange juice with some peach schnapps.

Sweet with no alchohol taste but it takes a few to catch a buzz. Add a little vodka and you have a Hairy Navel, still tasty but with more kick. Drop the peach schnapps and you have a Screwdriver, my favorite cocktail.

Try getting into wines. No recipes needed there and it can be quite fun and educational. Wines tend not to have that "alcoholic" taste that is associated with spirits and mixed drinks.

The rum you use is a major issue...use Malibu rum...Malibu bay breezes are good...cranberry juice, pineapple juice and rum.
1 1/2 oz Malibu? coconut rum
2 oz cranberry juice
2 oz pineapple juice
Don't forget to add the cherry!

a sour apple martini (yum)
Sorry I don't have the recipe but google it.

malibu coconut rum and mango nectar.

The only drinks where you can't taste any alcohol are ice cream drinks....Try this....
1 part Kalua
1 part Bailey's
1/2 part Creme De Cocoa
3-4 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream

Blend and Serve

Malibu rum
Dole pineapple orange Banana Juice
7-up
Lots of Ice.

So easy , so yummy...
Also drinking water in between drinks promotes less hangover affects and cleanses palette at the same time.

Maybe a 50/50
It is 1 1/2 ounces of Stoli Vanilla flavored vodka, you can put it in the freezer to keep it very cold and better tasting, a splash of Grand Marnier liquour and orange juice. Fill a glass with ice, pour in the Stoli, then the Grand Marnier, fill with orange juice, stir and garnish with a cherry if you want. Taste like the orange/vanilla ice cream. If you use a tall glass use, 2 1/2 ounces of vodka or whatever you prefer.

A chocolate martini! It tastes just like chocolate milk-only better!

Sprite and Grey Goose Vodka - 1 part Vodka 3 parts Sprite in tall glass filled with Ice - ENJOY

Ameretto and lemonade is lovely no alcohol taste at all just tasts like cherries

water

Try a fuzzy navel....peach schnapps and orange juice.
The alcohol content in shnapps is fairly low...usuarlly 30 or 42 proof depending on the brand.
The key to avoiding the alcohol taste is to avoid products with high alcohol content.
Vodka, Rum, Gin, and Tequila are all 80 proof.
However liquers and different types of schnapps are much lower and so you are less likely to taste the alcohol.

The cream drinks suggested above are all good. However, the alcohol aftertaste will always be there.

Pick a base drink that already has a strong flavor, like coffee or orange juice.

It's good to be repulsed a little by the aftertaste. That is your body telling you not to pour a bucket of whatever that was down here!

10ml vodka top up jucie or soft drink simple

Any alcopops. Try WKD or Bacardi Breezer. They just taste like fizzy drinks!

Vodka - can't taste it or smell on the breath - well thats depends on how close you are - try with pineapple juice with lots of crushed ice .!

The typical I just turned 21 and I don't like the taste of alcohol drink is the long island ice tea.

Screwdrivers work well too.

I think you should look through bartending books or websites and just see what looks interesting and make a watered down version with less alcohol. Fruity drinks and ice cream drinks are going to hide the alcohol well. My friend likes to mix malibu rum with pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine and it just tastes like some tropical punch. Better quality vodka doesn't taste as burny as lower grades and you can just mix that with OJ or pineapple juice, anything citrusy.

Once you get more used to the alcohol taste, you can try anything you want. You could also try light white wines. Beer doesn't taste like alcohol and can have pretty wonderfully complex flavors like wine as well if you choose wisely.
