Question:

It's been 26 days since i have smoked a cigarette, but .... I need Help?

I took a couple of pain pills and had three shots of vodka and a pint of Fosters. Now Feel like brick, I can hardly move. I want to smoke a Cigarette really really bad. I dont have any Cigs, so if I was going to smoke I would have to drive to the store and get some ( Im not sure thats a good Idea right now) What should I do? I want to be a non-smoker but its very hard right now.
How can I fight the urge?
Im going to drink another pint of Beer, then hopefully you guys have responded.

Answers:
I quit cold turkey and, believe it or not, everytime I felt the urge to smoke I told myself "I'm a non-smoker". I convinced myself and haven't had one for 12 years!! (I should go into sales???). I did learn one thing a one of the many "quit smoking clinics" I attended before I was successful. When you inhale on a cigarette, you tend to breathe in deeply. They told me to inhale air deeply when I felt the urge. I thought that was ridiculous "Crock" , but it does work.
You have to be mentally ready---you can't say "but I like them/I need them" -- you have to convince yourself you hate them and throw away any traces of them around the house. The first 2 weeks are the toughest. Good luck!!

Maybe you should quit drinking too, drinking beer makes me crave for cigarettes.

Avoid alcohol while trying to quit. In fact, avoid any activity that you used to do while smoking. Try thinking about something else. Try anything but having a cigarette. Good luck.

Have the other beer, then go to bed.

Um no this sounds like drinking is going to replace your cigarette smoking habit. You cant get rid of one habit and start another one. Drinking is not going to help you its going to harm you. Its been almost a whole month since you have had a cigarette! I would say that is great progress so far! Oh and pain pills no you dont need a pain pill addiction either. If you feel the urge to smoke why not chew some gum or try and think of something else to get your mind off of smoking. You know if you even take one drag of a cigarette you will be hooked all over again then you really wont be able to quit. Its called will power and thats what you need to use. I used to have an addiction too but I used will power to get over it and no I no longer care for that bad habit I used to have. You can do it! If I can you can too! Please dont get drunk or take any more pain pills!!!!!

You have to tell yourself...I've made it 26 days, and I can go another night.... just one more night.
Tell yourself you can have a cigarette in the morning if you really want it.....and you can.

...but I think you will be so pleased with yourself that you didn't have one tonight that you won't want to start tomorrow.

OK?? Just 1 more night.... You can do it!

#1. You can't be drinking and trying to quit smoking at the same time. If you continue to drink you will want to smoke also.
Need to get you some mints to suck on and lay off the alchol.
Do you live in the staes? Can get you Patches depending on where you live,

if you drink is going to be more hard to stop the feeling eat some ting sweat,or gum

YOU CAN FIGHT THE URGE BY DOING THINGS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO BUT NEVER GOT TO DO IT. YOU CAN JOG,INTERACT WITH YOU FRIENDS MORE,GO ON DATES ,OR YOU CAN START PLAYING GAMES LIKE CHESS,CHECKERS,SCRABBLE. THERE ARE LOTS OF THINGS YOU CAN DO.

Don't start one habit for another......that is not the answer.
Here is what I did years ago.......I went to the drug store and bought pretend cigarettes.......I would use these as props for whenever I felt urge to have one.... You get 20 in a pack just llike real cigarettes......
After breakfast, lunch or dinner I would hold one and pretend to smoke it....
While talking on the phone, I would puff away on my pretend cig.
Whenever I use to have a real cig, I would use my pretend cig . Even when we went out to eat. I needed to eat in the section for smoking, and pretend after I ate. My husband and friends understood. i did this for at least 2-3 weeks.

I also found things to do with my hands, and working crossword puzzles, and solitare....Anything! Just don't smoke, or drink my friend. I commend you for trying to quit.
It is not easy. The fact that they call it a disease is real.
I look up to you.......And please, don't take pills or drugs. That is not the answer, and I think deep down, you know that.
It has been 10 years for me this Sept. and I feel great about my achievement.....I would crave a cig every so often for a few years at different times. Mostly after I ate....It was crazy, but the feeling only lasted a few minutes, then I got busy with something....
Hang in there friend. E-mail me anytime for a booster.
Good luck. You can do it!

Right move x-lax kick one habit with another just as bad if not worse

Can't help you dude...as you can see smoking is a very small part of my problems.....

I'd say quite drinking so much until you can learn to fight your urges. When ever I drank that was when I had the urge to smoke the most. You just have to fight it. I haven't had a cigarette since new years eve. that was the last time I smoked and the only new years resolution I've ever kept.

How about giving up driving when you're smashed?
