Why are some people such hypocrites?!
I am 24 years old, and go out regularly at the weekends, however, I usually have to work on Sat & Sun, and I always make it into my work without a hassle.
My dad, has a problem with alcohol. It's not so much that he's a regular drinker, but when he does go out drinking, he goes on binges where he's drinking for days on end - even up to a week in some cases.
Admittedly, I was in a bit of a state on Saturday night, but this does not happen regularly in my case. He seems very quick to criticise me, but when he drinks, he is in that state - if not worse. He tries to argue his case that he doesn't do it often, but whenever he does drink, he doesn't go to work, and tends to abandon anything else that needs doing.
He also inadvertantly implies that I drink more than him, which I probably do, but I don't get into the same states
Answers: Just had a weekend off work for the first time in ages!!!!!!!!1 So obv, I was glad to go to the pub, and not worry about being hungover for a change.

Watch it alcoholism runs in families. Your dad has a drink problem and could very well be alcoholic even though he only goes on binges every so often. You don't have to drink everyday to be an alcoholic it's how it affects your life e.g with your dad he gets violent and has bad depressions. He is just trying to justify his own drinking by saying you drink more than him. I would watch your own drinking too x
deriding you allows him to disregard his own problems
He's had a lot more years of killing his brain cells by binging than you have...yet.
Just wait, it will catch up with you, too, if you continue drinking so much you suffer periods of memory loss.
maybe....just maybe... he doesn't want to see you go the same way he did.
Thats the way people are.
Sounds like you both need some help.
Maybe He just cares about you and doesn't want you to make the same mistakes he's made. Try to talk to him about it when you're both sober. All the best.
it could be that he is in denile about his own drinking habits and is only seeing problems with your drinking.
Fair play, like most 20 somethings you like a good drink and a night out but memory loss is never a good sign.
If your dad is having problems then it maybe a good idea to take note and avoid ending up going the same way yourself.
It could also be cause he cares about your welfare.
