Put your apples on a scale and weigh them. I think you mean peck, and there's 8 dry quarts in a peck. Since it's a unit of volume, the # of lbs will vary slightly, depending on the item. So there are several pounds in a peck.

I believe that the word you want here is a peck of apples and I do not know the conversion ratio, but I'm sure it can be found in most conversion (weights and measures) charts.

A peck is a unit of volume, not of weight. To convert to a weight you'd have to know the average density of the apples.

As someone else said, a peck is a unit of volume. The lady didn't know how many "pegs" are in a pound because it's a nonsense question on two levels.
