How is is that Ravenswood put our such a fantastic 2003 cabernet and then in 2005 it was just awful?!

Question: 2005 was a bad year in Napa/Sonoma. Also, Ravenswood has gone corporate and the they are producing a lot more than they used to. The quality of their zins has gone way down in the last few years too.

Weather and general grape growing conditions effect the year-to-year quality. Also remember that Ravenswood makes like eight grades of wine (a bit exaggerated, but not much) and that some may taste better than others.
