Nothing like a sharp Cheddar on a crispy wheat thin while drinking Scotch. I like something lighter as an appetizer with Vodka like sliced pear or apple.
While out, nachos or chicken wings. When on the way home we stop for a sub, the bread helps you not to get a hangover!
Chicken and fish with white wine.
Red meat with red wine.
Sometimes on hot days, Sangria in a jug, with lots of red fruit.
Or Cleriquot (a Sangria like drink, but made with white wine or Champagne), and lots of "white" fruit - like peaches and grapes.
Tapenade or blue cheese canapes are good too.
