I don't think its because we only drink half bottles. I think its in case we get thirtsy waiting in the queues for the cashier or walking back to the car.
In MEXICO... they sell them by the case there.

Well, if you are living in the UK then Asda would be a good idea. They are currently running a promotion where if you buy a small bottle (375ml) and bring back the recipt, you receive the money spent off the price of a full bottle. So if you pay ￡2 for the small bottle, bring back the receipt and you will get a ￡2 discount off the price of the full size wine.
