A desert wine?!

Question: My boyfriend and I are doing the whole long distance thing now. He's flying up to visit me for four days and comes in tonight. He found out this morning that the papers have been submitted for his promotion. I was going to get some chocolate covered strawberries and wine to have for us tonight when he gets here in celebration of his visit and promotion. What's a good wine to go with this? I personally prefer a chardonnay on the sweet end but anything that goes well will do. Thanks!

Your sweet chardonnay might do just fine, but if you're celebrating, how about something a little more special?

Try an ice wine, or a champagne or sparkling white, both of which complement chocolate covered strawberries nicely. (I'd do the champagne if the budget can take it.)

Personally, I'd do champagne~~even an inexpensive bottle is very good. . .

Have fun!!

Consider a good Tawny Port. Plan to spend at least $15 - $20 for a decent one, though.

Bert

the port wines are delicious, theyre really sweet

the white zinfandel is sweet too.

if you want a sweet champagne, buy the andre champagne, its good

A good Australian Shiraz should go well with chocolate. Since celebrations are in order try to get a Penfolds RWT Shiraz. If you are looking for something sweet, try Inniskillin Ice Wine from Niagra Falls. Both are going to cost you 50 bucks or more, but since you're celebrating, open the purse strings a little more than usual. I've had the Inniskillin before. It's wonderful. I have a bottle of the Penfolds RWT in my cellar. It's a 2002 and was rated 93pts by Wine Spectator.
Enjoy!!
