Can someone tell me how to make a manhattan??!
Answers: If you want a sweet manhattan, you will use whiskey and sweet vermouth topped with cherry, a dry manhattan is made with dry vermouth topped with a twist ,a perfect manhattan is made with sweet and dry equal parts. Always ask if they want it up or on the rocks....ps...I have never heard of bitters in a manhattan, that would be put in an old fashion.
Bourbon (Maker's Mark), a little sweet vermouth, a splash of bitters, and a maraschino cherry. Decide if you want it up or on the rocks..
A Manhattan is a cocktail made with whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. Commonly used whiskeys include rye (the traditional choice), Canadian, bourbon and Tennessee. Proportions of whiskey to vermouth vary, from a very sweet 1:1 ratio to a much less sweet 4:1 ratio. The cocktail is often stirred with ice and strained into a cocktail glass, where it is garnished with a Maraschino cherry with a stem.[1] A Manhattan is also frequently served on the rocks in an old-fashioned glass (lowball glass).
The Manhattan is one of six basic drinks listed in David A. Embury's classic The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks. It has been called a drinking man's cocktail — strong, urbane, and simple. It has also been called the "king of cocktails."[2]
First- bourbon or rye?
In a clean mixing glass, pour 2.5 ounces of spirit, 1/2 ounce of Cinzano, and a few dashes of Angostura bitters. Stir with a long-handled spoon for about 10 seconds, and strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with a cherry. For a Perfect Manhattan, use half Cinzano, and half white Vermouth.
