Absinthe does not taste "bad".
Some people especially americans have that idea because they heard or themselves have tried cheap vodka with wormwood leaves soaked in it, THAT'S NOT ABSINTHE and it tastes absolutely horrible because wormwood has in it's composition the second most bitter substance known to Man.
Real absinthes main ingredients are green anis followed by wormwood and fennel (among several others like star anis, hyssop, melissa, etc) so some absinthes are even excessively sweet, and the spanish are among these.
In Spain only one brand of absinthe can be considered real, the Segarra, that is expensive and impossible to find in bars. Why is this a real absinthe? Because it's the product of a DISTILLATION of grape spirit, wormwood and green anis. All other spanish brands are OIL MIXES, that is, after extracting the essential oils of those or other plants they are mixed with the grape spirit, resulting in a inferior "absinthe".
Other "absinthes" are just infusions, that is, the plants are infused in grape spirit for a while. These are not absinthes at all but watch out for them in Spain you'll see alot, among them Tunel, Rodnicks, etc, avoid these. You'll still be able to find in bars some oil mixes, although it's not easy, very few bars have it. Some of the best oil mixes are Monta?a, Serpis and Mari Mayans.
Of course you know that ABSINTHE IS NOT AN HALLUCINOGENIC, and never was in the past, that's a myth perpetuated by some unscrupulous czhech "absinth" vendors that make a profit out of peoples ignorance.
Final note: NEVER do the flaming sugar cube thing, it's a stupid commercial gimmick invented in the 1990's by the infamous czechs, nobody ever drank absinthe like that in the XIX century. They drank it aklways dilluted with water, at least two parts of water to one of absinthe, slowly pouring down ice cold water untill it started to cloud the absinthe, turning milky white, a sign of authenticity. Some melted a sugar cube over a spoon but by pouring the water over the sugar cube, never flaming it, that's stupid because it ruins all the subtle flavours of the absinthe, it's main characteristic.

yes they do. i was there for three months a lil while back... absenth isnt all its made to be.

Yes they do. You can order Absinthe at a lot of bars in Spain but it tastes similiar to Jagermeister. You won't get any halucinations from it, just a bad taste in your mouth. Absinthe is something to try, but you probably won't want to drink it for anything more than the novelty.
