Keeping Champagne Fizz?!

Question: Why does placing a spoon in the neck of a bottle keep the fizz?

Answers: Why does placing a spoon in the neck of a bottle keep the fizz?

That does not work. The only true solution is to drink the whole bottle. Seriously, even if you use a "saver" you will ultimately loose the fizz.

I think the only effect is that the aperture of the bottle is reduced making the gas take a little longer to get out...

In any case, not all is lost as you can always drink it a "white" wine...

Cheers.

This is an old wives tale. The only thing that keeps champagne from going flat too quickly is to use a champagne stopper that reseals the bottle.

this is a scientific question}i think because it is metal it is revesing the forses of the fizz and it is so hard for the fizz to come out (so it is the forces)

Does NOT work.
The best bet is still a champagne stopper...and even then, once opened, the sparkling wine will loose its bubbly effect every time you open it.
