Why is the smokin age 18? and the drinking age 21?!

Question: A law is not fixed in stone. What is a law other then a lot of concepts and rules laid down. Law is not an object, but has objectives directed at social sculpturing. A stone is a physical object, we think, but it is also composed of space and atoms and movement. Mountains tumble to the sea in a long process to become silt that blocks the flow. Laws change and stones change over time.

Just remember there are tobacco lobbies and alcohol lobbies that encourage laws to be passed for regulation, supply, demand and profit. So vote knowing what the issues are and the individuals you vote for. Just remember, the majority of government officials are appointed and not elected.

Tobacco and alcohol are not good for your health in general, so don't forget about the medical lobbies and pharmaceutical lobbies. Our legal system of enforcement is random, but it has become a cottage industry, and they also have lobbies. Prohibition didn't work, lines that were drawn were meant to sway popular opinion on changing prohibition.

I still get how men can have families at 18 go to war by the govt and not be allowed to have a drink?WTH?

Because you have the right to ruin your health with cigarettes while sober but you don't have the right to ruin your health drunk with alcohol in an inebriated state.

Thirty years ago, the drinking age was 19. It was proved too many teenagers were getting hurt in alcohol related accidents. The smoking law has been enforced since the late nineties, before that they didn't check you. It boils down to smoking only kills yourself, drinking and driving with friends can hurt lots of people. By 21, a person is considered mature enough to handle the responsibility

You send your kids to die for oil,but you don't let them to drink a whiskey!!! This society is mad. After all the laws against smoking and drinking, guns and drugs became much more popular.
