You use knoxx unflavored gelatin and whatever ingredients go into your drink. Most people think you need to use whatever flavor jello has but you can make anything.

i like using flavored vodka, and mix and match with different flavores, you can use smirnoff flavored vodka, or even burnets has a wide variety. when it's jello shots there's no reason to use the more expensive stuff for jello.

Be sure to keep the jello runny - it is horrible trying to get out a rock hard shot of jello from the tiny cups!

Vodka, mix the same amount of water and the same amount of vodka. It will be great. Use Absolut Vodka or Sky, they are both good. Cherry Jello is good.
If you are making a variety of flavors of jello shots, vodka is the easiest. It goes with everything.
Rum is OK, it is not the best choice though.
