Scrumpy/ Cider?!
Answers: I was on hols in Devon and my other half and i THOUGHT great we'll try the local cider or real scrumpy. Could we find any, no, all the bars sold cans all of which I can get in my local offie. Very disappointed, here's the good part though Wetherspoons are importing the local cider in from Cornwall and selling it at £1 a pint. I live in Northern Ireland and I can't believe I couldn't get it in the West Country.
When I was in the RAF I was stationed for sometime in Somerset and we used to take plastic gallon containers to the local farms that made real scrumpy, 10 bob a gallon it was, it was cloudy and had bits init..took yer head off and severe hangovers next morning..had some good times on it ! Get to the farms. forget the pubs , you only get crap there!
Try 'Taffy Apple' if you ever come to Wales!
Seek and ye shall find
It's very easy to find proper Westcountry cider in proper Westcountry pubs. Just Google it before you go.
I doubt whether the stuff in Wetherspoons is anything like the real thing.
I live in Northern Ireland and I don`t know why anybody would want to go to Devon anyway it`s just like here
Like Jockman4 I managed to get some from a friend that travelled around the Somerset farms. Cloudy, bits in it and mindblowing.
My husband and I developed a real fondness for scrumpy when we were on holiday in Cornwall.
I wish we could find it in California!!
I wonder how difficult it is to make?
