Why are white wines served cold?!

Question:

Why are white wines served cold?

Answers:
White wines should be served cool not cold. If they are to cold it will mask some of the flavors in the wine. Cellar temp is around 55f, serving a white wine around 50f would be pleasing.

Cause they taste better.....they tend to be bitter warm....

White wines are traditionally sweeter and "wetter" than a standard dry red wine which has a more robust taste. The cold helps bring out the sweet flavors in Pinots and Chardonnays.

Cold as opposed to room temp for reds I guess. Wines from the red grape have specific "volatiles" meaning a wide range of tastes and smells. These need a bit of warmth to give the wine its "note"White wine is not as sensitive. generally people regard white wine as an apperatif, and thus enjoy it cold. lol
