Taste is subjective. If you don't like beer you are either to young and have not developed your palate, or you have only tried cheap beer. Beer, ecpecially craft beer or beer from micro-breweries, has a wide variety of flavors and styles.
I love beer, its refreshing and is wonderful with certain foods.
If it is the bitterness that you don't like it is the hops they use in the brewing process. I personally don't like bitter but have found quality beer that doesn't use a ton of hops. Also the taste is dramatically changed depending on what vessel you are drinking out of. If you don't like a certain beer try drinking it out of a glass rather than a can or bottle. You'll be amazed at the difference.
P.S. You might want to try ales and ciders instead of beer.
Cheep beer and macrobrews are disgusting. Microbrews and some import beers are flavorful, not bitter like macrobrews, and go great with many types of food, especially grilled food, or heavier food like kielbasa or sauerkraut. Irish lamb stew with Guinness is great.
Not all of it is disgusting. Also, lots of people don't know this but it's very good to cook with too. Like boiling some garlic cloves in beer then mashing them up and adding them to hamburgers before you cook them is really nice (and you get to drink the leftover beer :)
