Does beer really expire??!
Answers: my friend and I aren't sure if it's ok to drink a beer that is past the "best if used by date" ? haha such a blonde question i'm sure. but hey we need to know!m thanks
some beers have "pull dates" and some have "born on dates" most in the U>S> will have a shelf life of 110 days ,more for the imports. The longer a beer sets the less "crisp" and "clean" it will taste. It will get skunky if if sets for too long...also how it is stored. If it sets in the sun and gets hot day after day it will go bad faster.
yes and no... wait gotta go be right back..
The Yes:
Most beer does have a best buy date of about 3-6 months but no more than 12. These are usually your macro brews (mass breweries) such as Budweiser and Miller, but isn't limited to them. My Bell's Batch 8,000 has "Best consumed fresh" on the bottle.
The No:
Some beers are bottle re-fermented and can be cellar for years. I have a bottle of 1992 Thomas Hardy's ale at home right now. On Friday my friend and I had a side-by-side comparison of Great Lakes Barrel-Aged Blackout Stout 2006 and the new 2007. The 2006 was AMAZING. About a month ago I had a sampling of Bell's product that were all brew in December of 2005. Again all where good.
Only if you dont drink it.
Yes, if you have any beer that is more than 12 hours old bring it to me as it is critical it be consumed immediately. Really though in absense of light or oxygen it will last a very long time but no bottling is absolutely absent of light or oxygen. Beer will eventually expire, I think some of mine is going bad now.
i have known people who got really sick using products
after expiration dates/
dont take any chances, throw it away.
i think as long as you've been keeping it cold and unopened it should be fine for a little while. its in an airfree bottle or can. if it still makes that glorious psssst sound then i think it should be fine!!
oh yes, it mostly effects the tast. It does truly taste "skunky". Not good. But you can drink it.
