After dinner!

An after dinner drink unless you are Danny DeVito/ George Clooney and drink 11 of them and wonder what happened.

This is a good question.
First an aperitif is any thing consumed before a meal, this includes light snacks and/or beverages. The main goals of an aperitif is to cleans the palate and prepare/or aid the stomach in digestion. Lemoncello is a light citrus liquor that is sweet. Lemon is naturally refreshing (ie. those nice warm towels you get on an airplane) so one can argue that it would be classified as an aperitif.
As far as a digestives, these are usually served after the meal to relax the stomach and mind after a big meal. They are usually heavier and contain more alcohol then an aperitif (ie. sherry, brandy, port) so if you can accept this point then no Lemoncello would not typically be classed as such.
Yet through it all consumption of alcohol has evolved into much more then traditions or what people in Europe say should and should not be consumed when and where. So I say if you like it enjoy it, in the company of friends and family and start your own traditions.
Cheers!

It's an after dinner drink. A little too sweet for my taste.
