Why do the Irish like to drink so much?!

Question: It goes back to public houses (now known as pubs or bars) decades ago when rural people would gather in the local pub to hear the latest news. They drank mostly stout which (over there) is not a strong beer. In fact, it was so weak that it was hard to get drunk on it.

That's why.

Cause we like it and we are good at it... .... Joking aside pretty bad sterotype dude... If you said this about other Races you may even get in some trouble or start a post war...

believe they will have a long life.

becasue their cool....no im not irish

And WHATS wrong with drinking so much??? Anyway it gets you heaven easily. If you drink, you get drunk. If you get drunk you fall down. If you fall down you commit no sin. If you dont sin, you go to heaven. So lets all get drunk & go to heaven. Heh heh.

Because the Irish have been drinking since drinking was ever invented. same reasons germans drink, to be merry. happy. and party in life.

I am Irish and I like to drink. I like to drink coffee, milk ,ice tea, lemonade and even a shake or malt now and then. Is that a problem for you?

i know your question is meant to be innocent, but it's a stereotype. it's similar to asking why polish people are stupid or why native americans are alcoholics. like i said, i know you meant no harm. it would be interesting to find out why such stereotypes are pereptuated and where they originated. I googled "irish alcoholism" and a lot came up. You may be able to find your answers there. good luck! :-)

Grow up, that is just a negative stereotype.
