Is there a difference between Co2 tanks and Helium tanks for kegerators?!

Question: I have a big helium tank in my basement and am trying to build a kegerator! I was wondering if I could use the helium tank like if I drained it then got it refilled with Co2 with my kegerator? I wasnt sure if it is simple or really difficult and not as simple as I was hoping

Most compressed gas cylinders and regulators have what they call a pin index system. This prevents accidentally using the wrong gas. Your CO2 regulator might not fit the helium cylinder.

um ....no i wouldn't.......save the helium for ballons......it would probably screw up your beer and make it undrinkable.....plus CO2 is alot cheaper...........

No! The helium (or balloonium) will cause your beer to over foam. The helium will saturate into the beer quicker than co2. Guinness is usually served with N2. The lighter the gas, the easier it will saturate the beer and cause more little tiny bubbles. Although this makes the beer very creamy, it will be nearly all foam.
