What's the best beer?!

Question:

What's the best beer?

I'm not a beer drinker, but would like to be to save money at the bars. What is everyone's favorite and why?

Answers:
Beer is kind of like soda pop or ice cream. Everyone has a slightly different taste and different favorites. If you enjoy a good beer, it's actually fun "finding" one you like. Try alot of different types at first...then work on trying to find "your" beer.

Domestic (USA) - US beers tend to be a tad on the watery side but makes them able to be consumed in larger quantities, if that's your objective.
Import (Mexico) - Mexican beers tend to be lighter, and have a distinctive taste. I'd try Dos Equis here.
Import (Belguim) - Belguim is Beer Central. Hoegaarden shouldn't be passed up if it's available.
Import (Germany) - Most german beers have a heavy flavor a'la Becks or Heineken. I'd try Beck's Dark it's one of the best dark beers around, a tad bitter but alot of people like these type beers, especially with food.
Import (China) - Most people grab Soporro because of the can, but I think Tsingtao is much better. Chinesse beers tend to have the lighter feel of the Mexican beers but with a little more bite like the German beers.
Inport (Holland) - #1 exported beer. A must try, this stuff is available just about anywhere.

Some beers I'd recommend to try along the way: Sam Adams (best US beer), Genessee Amber Bock (best bock beer around), Guiness (heavy, thick, and kicks hard but if you like it you'll love it... Ireland's #1), Tecate (Mexican - it's fun putting the lime in =) ), St. Pauli Girl (heavy, kind of bitter - The beer Heineken wishes it was).

One of the latest crazes to hit the US, and my personal favorites, are the wheat beers from Belgium and Germany. They are extrememly light and very drinkable without that horrible "Bud Breath" aftertaste. My personal favorites are Hoegaarden (now available on-tap in better US brewpubs) and Schneider Weisse (usualy bottle only in the US).

In US bars they are likely two have both of the following no matter where they are:
Heineken - #1 export beer from Holland. When you want to have a "good" beer and you not where "good" beer is served. This stuff is available just about everywhere.
Michelob - Probably the most under-rated US beer. It's the only US commercial beer still brewed from the original european recipe. It's exceedingly smooth and better tasting than most of the more popular nameplates.

Have fun finding your beer!

Guinness because its Irish.

Well Beer is an acquired taste and it really depends on your geography and some of it will also depend on where you lived when you first started experimenting with beer.

I find that most Euro Beers are good minus the stuff from former East Block Countries, I would go with a Blanche de Bruges or a Boddington's while others would swear by their Guinness or some in Canada might go for a Molson.

Mass consumption beer is not what I would call the best but it is a constant so if you are used to that well then you can never really say you know what a real beer tastes like.

Try some variety and see what makes a lasting impression on your palette.

Guinness

Carling cold

YOU ASK WHAT IS IS THE BEST BEER , , WHEN I WAS IN THE PUB TRADE IN THE U.K TO ME THEIR WAS ONLY ONE GOOD BEER IT HAD THE NAME OF REAL ALE . THIS REAL ALE CAME IN A BARREL AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO PUT A BUNG IN IT FOR 3 DAYS , , THIS IS SO THAT IT COULD FERMENT SLOWLY , THE REAL ALE DID NOT COME OUT OF A C.O PRESSURE GAS BOTTLE TO GET IT FROM THE CELLAR TO THE BAR , WHEN YOU ASKED FOR A PINT OF REAL.ALE IT HAD TO BE PUMP UP FROM THE THE CELLAR TO THE BAR , I AM NOT SUREIF YOU CAN FIND THIS BEER OUTSIDE OF ENGLAND , ONE NICE THING ABOUT THIS ALE IS THEAT THEIR IS HARDLY ANY WATER ADDED TO THIS , ALE , SO THIS WILL BE TELLING YOU JUST HOW STRONG THIS ALE IS , ANOTHER FACTED TO THIS REAL ALE , IS WITH LETS SAY KEG BEER , OR LARGAR , YOU COULD GET AWAY WITH OUT CLEANING YOUR PIPES FOR A WEEK , BUT NOT SO WITH REAL ALE THE PIPES HAD TO BE FLUSHED THOUGH WITH WARM WATER. EVERY MORNING , THIS WAS DONE BECAUSE OF THE , THICKNESS OF THE BARLEY AND HOPS , ENJOY ONE IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE U.K , AND BY THE WAY , THE REAL ALE HAS A STRONG PERCENTAGE , IN IT ,

got 2 b budweiser

I always thought beer as beer, not larger, beer to me is draught bitter, depending where you are in the country, I do like a drop of Spitfire, or taylors bitters, maybe hook norton bitters, ect, ect

Any one of the beer's in the bud family is the most popular.

In my experience guinness is by far the best and I have tried a large variety during the last 30 yrs. or so.

The best ones to start with are lagers. They're very popular with seasoned drinkers and good as an 'entry-level' beer too. When I'm in a lager mood I usually plump for either Becks or Grolsch (both out of bottles) or if draught beer is the order of the day, then start off with Stella or Kronenburg. All of these should be quite easy to find in most pubs, but prices can vary depending on where you are.

Powers Gold, its a light beer so no big headache next day

Im not alcoholic.

I usually keep about 19 different beers in my Fridge at all times - because I am a beer connoisseur and enjoy different beers.

I used to Brew my own beers for over forty years - but when I found out that there are over l9,800 different beers brewed annually though out the world not including the little micro brewery's and home made beer - I stopped brewing my own beer - and decided to take advantage by trying them all!

And why stick with only "One Favorite" when there are over l9,000 to chose from???????????

I have dozens of fravorites!

And like the Wartzsteiner Brewery motto sez - "It does not pay to drink cheap beer"! - and there is a lot of truth in this!

Cheers and Good Luck!

I luv Budweiser!!!

Budweiser Beer is the best!!!

My favorite is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
