Why do my face and neck turn red when I drink?!

Question: I'm not quite sure its an allergy, it only happens when I combine several dif types of alcohol. There are MANY instances when I drink when I dont turn red, but sometimes I do.
Whats the deal?

thanks bunches

You may have a genetic intolerance to a certain component in the alcohol called Acetyl Alcohol.

Levels of Acetyl are highest in Cognac or brandy, and Rum due to the processes that make those spirits. Also, high Acetyl levels are found in the fortified wines.

Yes, alcohol increases blood and body temperature. Maybe you shouldn't be mixing certian types. I totally understand you! You'll overcome it. Don't worry.

It gets your heart pumping slightly harder which is good in small amounts. However the amount of alcohol a person can take differs depending on what their body's like.

It happens to me also. I was told I was allergic. Note I don't suffer any more than anyone else when I drink. People just know when I am drinking because I get red. It's a joke in my crowd now.

Happens to my hubby all the time, especially when he has eaten salty foods, either before or after drinking beer.

High blood pressure! Be careful.
