Why is jello called jello in America and jelly everywhere else?!

Question:

Why is jello called jello in America and jelly everywhere else?

Answers:
jello is the Company Brand name. It is actually Gelatin. Hence jelly. People just use the name like Kleenex, Vaseline etc

Jello is a brand of gelatin.

Jello is a brand name in the States and has become synonymous with gelatin (its real term). Jelly is slang for it in other countries. Its the same as using Kleenex to refer to facial tissues or Band-Aids to refer to an adhesive bandage.

maybe because they call jam jelly...for some reason

Chalk it up to good branding. Jello is the leading manufacturer of flavored gelatin in the US.

Much like Kleenex is synonymous with tissue and Ketchup is synonymous with catsup.
