Jelly shots, Jello shots and several other names for the same thing have been around for over 100 years. Not sure who thought it up though. The old recipes were basically popular cocktails of the day with gelatin added to solidfy it.
They have been around for years but with everything they go in and out of fashion, they are a gimmick drink, something unusual, something all youngsters of every age think they thought it up. same as brandy angel delight cups we were doing them twenty years ago, it was instant whip then though.
