Is alcohol a truth serum?!

Question:

Is alcohol a truth serum?

Usually when people drink alcohol that say what ever is on their mind. Also people drink alcohol to relax or help them come out their shell while there at party or club. Is Alcohol considered a truth serum?

Answers:
No, it's considered a depressant.

Although you might think of it as more of a "stupidity serum" because people often do really dumb things when under the influence.

It would depend on how much alcohol is consumed. Sometimes things are said when under the influence that wouldn't normally be said, so it probably could be considered a truth serum.

not really but....it sometimes does affect people thus it does make them tell the truth...it also depends on the person

Yes, it certainly lubricates the tongue and disengages the brain.

Yeah, I think it can be considered that. Have u never used it as "Dutch courage"? But usually after a few drinks u DO say what's on ur mind, well I do anyway, lol.

It's a central nervous system depressant/relaxer and lowers the inhibitions of the consumer. Sometimes that means you'll dance on tables, sometimes that means you'll tell someone you think they're a jerk, but I think it varies a lot. I think it's harder to lie drunk simply because your mental processing isn't as quick as it would be normally, so even if you lie, sometimes it's just really obvious.

So it varies and it's true intermittently for some, but probably can't say that for everyone. Though if you're trying to hide something, best to stay sober just in case.
