Question:

Im on amoxicillin, can i drink a smirnoff?

Answers:
You're not supposed to drink when you're on antibiotics because you won't get the full benefit of them. You won't get sick or die or get wasted, they just won't clear up whatever infection you're on them for.

Sure if you want to kill off the antibiotic you are taking so it won't be effective.

One shouldn't hurt.

You never mix drugs with alcohol, it's deadly.

I learned that out the hard way...

I am with Rico on this one. It won't hurt you to drink. But, you will be wasting the antibiotic. It won't be effective. Wait until you get through with the meds.

The reason you are told not to drink alcohol when taking antibiotics is that sometimes it will make you feel nauseous and make you vomit. Drinking also causes you to urinate more frequently and that causes the antibiotic to wash out of your system before it has a chance to do it's job. You need to maintain a certain amount of it in your bloodstream for it to be effective.

No booze with antibiotics ........It won't work together.

Amoxicillin is just your basic infection medication. It should be ok to drink while on it, but just take it easy!!

there's no problem drinking alcohol with amoxicillin. It will not decrease the effectiveness of it. I am a pharmacist. Some antibiotics are a problem but amoxicillin is not one of them.

No, but I'll drink one for you.

~Cheers~

NO! because the alcohol will cause your system to become dehydrated of the nutrients it needs to help it absorb the antibiotic because you'll have to urinate more frequently which will wash away the benefits of the med. your taking and If you have had a fever it will be more likely to return. And also you will be interupting the acidity of your stomach to be able to hold down food which is what you have to have in your system to make the antibiotic work with out making you nauseous. so DO NOT DRINK WHILE TAKING THIS MEDICATION it should be on the label of the bottle if not then ask why it was left of and always consult your physician about these issues when your in doubt!

Drink in moderation, 1 or 2 would be fine. If you over do it
the effectiveness of the antibiotic decreases, and will
commonly cause you to have diarrhea

Sure, but the antibiotic may not be as effective after that
