Might a bar manager only want to hire applicants who are also customers?!

Question:

Might a bar manager only want to hire applicants who are also customers?

Will they only show an interst in hiring applicants who have been to that particular bar as a customer themself?
lived in the area for a while ?
Besides experience do they also expect things like the above, and whatever else?

Answers:
well if they have been to the bar more than once as a coustomer then they like the beer/food/watever so they will work there to get a 10-20% discount

That might be a hard thing to prove because if the bar is busy enough how would the manager know if you're a customer or not. Most likely the manager will base the decision on qualifications and if he likes your personality.

Having been in the position to hire bartenders, I will tell you that honesty, personality and a willingness to work with the staff are priceless, everything else is a bonus. Mixing drinks is the least important qualification, unless you're working a service bar, then you'd only get hired if you can carry the load.

no. unless they know them as a resopnsible drinker.
don't need anyone who dosen't know their limit

don't want to lose a customer
