Why do standard size Canadian beer bottles hold 341ml. rather than other amount?!

Question: I know large bottles are available, but I'm curious - why this amount for regular bottles?

Well I am a Canadian and an occasional beer drinker, first the size is the industry stardard, here there are larger bottles, up to between 650ml to 1 liter, and as the first person said it is a matter of chilling the beer, until 1983 we had what were known as the "Stubby" it was a smaller bottle than today, it held 330mls, the cans here hold like soft drinks a 355 ml amount.

Mostly when they started making th newer tall size they set a size of 341 as 12 oz was the norm but the bottles hold 13.2 oz in american terms. We have some in green glass and clear, but these are smaller breweries making a micro brewed product.

A larger bottle just don't fit and feel right in the palm of the hand and beer gets warmed up easily. 341ml is the amount of beer a person can drink before it gets warm, who wants to drink a warm beer?
