Dinking Alcoholic beverage be it liquor or just beer...?!

Question: my frind thinks that if you drink out in the cold, im assuming that its must be at least 32F or 0C, that when you drink outside, you will freeze, or you will get colder...

but i said, Alchole does not freeze, so why would a person drinking Alc, freeze there bodies whilst drinking outside or at tempatures at freezing or below freezing...?

Thanks

I hope they don't mean your stomach would freeze...that's just stupid.

Alcohol tends to lower your body temperature, even in warm settings. Adding an already cold temperature and decreasing your body's ability to keep your internal temperature at 98.6F, I wouldn't be surprised if a drunk person in the cold were to have hypothermia. Freezing into a big drunkcicle on the hand is unlikely, provided they don't pass out.

You're right alcohol does not freeze. People can freeze by drinking out in the cold because the more they drink the warmer their bodies feel, so when someone is outside they can freeze to death, but its would have to be colder than 32F they can die because they dont realize that they are cold. Otherwise if u place alcohol say on ice..(32F) it will actually evaporate and leave no traces of its existance. Hope that helps.

I can't remember if drinking raises or lowers your body temp. Either way, the result is that your body doesn't realize how cold it is outside. If you get drunk enough, you could pass out and freeze to death.

I am not 100% sure, but I believe alcohol is a vasoconstricture. It makes the blood vessles smaller, and your blood circulation is what helps keep you warm. You constrict that and your body temp will drop. In the begining the alcohol gives you a warm feeling in the belly, and as it goes down your throat. I hope that helps. Take care.

I'm going to assume you had been "dinking" when you posted this question.
Drinking alcoholic beverages has certain physiological effects, one of which is the dilation of the blood vessels. This causes your body to lose heat quickly. It is also one of the reasons you have a headache the morning after.
Here's the deal, though. Alcohol does not freeze at the same temperature as water. Humans are mostly water, so a person would freeze at 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C, even if they were floating in a vat of alcohol, which would not freeze at that temperature. The alcohol would be 32F and not freeze, but the body would be 32F and would freeze.
This is not something you would want to try just to prove a point. A lot of drunks have been found dead, frozen in the snow and ice, after a storm. After the party, crawl in a nice warm bed and stay there until you are sober.
It's safer and a lot more fun.
