Which group of people is the biggest drinker in the world?!

Answers: We all know the Irish can drink, but are they really by far the biggest drinker in the world? From my study experience, the Korean and Russian are by far the best I can think of.

I'm Irish and have lived in Russia and Asia and Australia and England and now live in the Caribbean - so I can speak from experience here..
In Poland you will sit down to dinner and each person will have a little bottle of vodka put in front of them! - Vodka is big with the Polish,Russians, Ukranians and all black sea coast.
The Italians will drink wine in the morning! Men in their sixties will do a little shopping and then have a chat with a champage (prosecco) glass in their hand. -
Koreans are crazy binge drinkers when they party as are the japanese and chinese, they have a macho thing with Scotch Whiskey.
None of the females drink like the males in these cultures.
The Spanish and French will sit in a bar and nurse a drink for an hour and dont buy each other drinks. There can be 4 people and 1 old drink on the table.
The Irish also binge drink but mostly its social drinking and is spread through types of alchohol and age ranges and both sexes.
The australians can drink but not like the Irish, the australians drink from these little glasses so the amount is misleading.
The English are messy drunks like the Koreans and the English men will also drink small glasses of beer and with lemonade put in it.
The Americans are crazy for 'shots'.
Caribbeans love Rum and lager.
Biggest drinkers? - its a loaded question - you can buy beer in macdonalds and the cinema in most of Europe - they drink beer like soda..

In terms of Beer consumption per capita... the Germans take it.
In terms of spirits... I'd have to go with the Russians.
Vino would probably be the Italians.
btw... Vodka is 80 proof which is the same as 40% Alcohol. Take the % of alcohol and multiply by 2 to get the proof level... thats how it works.
a friend told me when he was in ireland he ordered his usual pitcher of beer... for himself. the bartender said he could tell he was from the U.S. because americans always order the "big ones" all for themselves.

I don't know about any certain nation, but as far as a group of people it would have to be sailors. I used to sail on scientific research boats and when we would pull into port the party was on.

just want to correct one answer. the Czechs drink the most beer in the world, not the Germans.
my best guess would be alcoholics all races creeds and cultures have problems with the stuff the place that is not known for there own drink is the us but we have more drunks than you could imagine so it is more about people than places

I would have to say that the biggest group of drinkers in the world would have to be myself and my circle of friends. We show up at a bar and drink it dry. Good times!!!
