Drinks often, it doesn't matter if it's only a little at a time, failing health, erratic behavior, smells like it, too.
If she is a heavy drinker, you will see that funny glow in her eyes. She will say something now and totally something different later on - as if she has two different personallities. She will always be busey, and plans allready made. Her money never looks good. etc etc. And you will smell it on her clothes, her hair, her house...
I used to work with one. She always used to moan about her husband's drinking (asking if four bottles of whisky a week was excessive), very low weight, red face and frequent absences from work. In the end she died from cancer of the liver.

Erratic behaviour from depressed to genial.
Eats mints or similar. Breath smells 'sweetish' anyhow.
Makes such strong coffee you can't smell the alcohol in it.
Extra-provocative remarks at a certain stage.
Morose and tearful after a long bout of drinking.
(I've had an alcoholic friend).
Tends to only ever drink one thing. eg a particular wine. That way they can hide which bottle they are on.
Never really getting anything done. I avoid ironing....but I do do other things instead.
Ok one minute, drunk the next could be a hint.
Is very defensive about their drinking...
red rashy cheeks...(the face cheeks!)
...she's most likely sitting here with me having a "good morning sip" to get the day rolling... If she's into the bottle, believe me, you'll know it soon enough.... Smirnoff's, when you absolutely, positively have to be blasted by noon.....
You can smell it.
Easy to get into bed, but not very good once she's there!?!
Why don't you just ask her....
She has a drink in her hand, and she takes a drink.
Asks a question like this.
Drinker or alcoholic? There is a huge difference.
You can usually tell if someone is a drinker because they are having fun. :)
Alcoholic would be if they are drunk (not having A DRINK, but being drunk) alone or at inappropriate times. Also they tend to say "I'm not even drunk!" when they clearly are.
